Our Beginning & The Dream
It Started with a College Dream
Picture this: a college girl with a wild dream – to create something that celebrates tradition while giving artisans the respect they deserve. Sounds idealistic? Maybe. But the best dreams usually are.
Life happened, as it does. Corporate job, steady paychecks, savings account growing, family cheering from the sidelines. But that dream? It never left. It just waited, growing stronger with each passing day.
The Woman Behind the Thread
The Moment That Changed Everything
I can still see her – Meera aunty at Nani's house, her weathered fingers creating magic. Those intricate Chikankari motifs, the delicate jaalis, the fine murri work that demanded hours of devotion. Thirty years of mastery flowing through her hands.
Yet she earned almost nothing for creating these masterpieces. That image haunted me. In the best possible way and kept me motivated.
The Leap of Faith
Years later, with corporate experience under my belt and some savings finally secured, I faced my moment of truth. The voice in my head was clear: Ya To Abhi Ya Kabhi Nahi. Now or never!
Intricate Chikankari Patterns
You know what’s beautiful about Chikankari?
It’s not just embroidery – it’s poetry written with threads. Those traditional motifs – the paisley (mango), the lotus (kamal), the jasmine (bel) – each one tells stories our grandmothers knew by heart.
But somewhere, this incredible heritage was getting lost in mass production and machine work. Real Chikankari – with its 32 plus different stitches, the shadow work, the delicate phanda and murri – was becoming rare.
The Real Game Changer
Corporate life taught me something crucial
Paying people fairly isn't charity – it's smart business. When you honor someone's worth, they give you their soul's work.
Each technique takes years to perfect. These aren’t just “workers” they are "Artisans".
They’re artists carrying forward centuries of knowledge in every stitch, every motif, every delicate pattern.
